Greatest Little Aquarium in the World!!!
The Aquarium Center receives no funding from any government source. The
Center is funded solely by admissions, souvenir sales, donations and fund
raising events.
Due to the increase in membership and displays we have outgrown our present
building; therefore, the G.I.A.A. has announced a fund raising drive to build
a new and much larger facility. If you would like to help us, we would
greatly appreciate it. You will find a donation box near the Souvenir
Counter, or you may send your donation to:
Be sure to stop at our souvenir counter. There are over 3,000 items for you
to see. The largest selection of aquatic souvenirs, shells and coral jewelry
and shell crafts in the Midwest.
Groups of 10 or more (special group rates, by appointment only) are always
welcome. Please call ahead for information.
The Greater Iowa Aquarium Center was built in 1979. It is the only public
aquarium in the world that was built by a tropical fish club.
The Aquarium Center was built by donations of goods from the business sector
and volunteer labor of the members of the Greater Iowa Aquarium Association.
